We begin our trip with a car pickup at 2:00. Ariving at JFK at 4, and after check in, as always we start our adventures with a glass of bubbles!
A 17 hour flight, many movies and some sleep, we arrive in Auckland and make a connection to Queensland on the South Island.
As we flew over the South Island, coming into

Queenstown, the sight of the mountain ranges was fantastic. The craggy mountain tops formed by ages of glaciers, volcanoes and the movement of tectonic plates forms a phantasmic landscape peaking above the blanket of clouds. Descriptions and pictures just don’t do it justice.

After landing, we met our driver, Martin, at baggage claim, got our bags and then boarded his van for an hour drive to our lodging, Blanket Bay. The lodge is built in the style of an alpine lodge and is situated at the northern end of Lake Wakatip. We had some sparkling wine, then some lunch and a tour of the facilities. Our “room” is a chalet separate from the main building has a beautiful view of the lake and the mountains.

Awesome!!! Enjoy every minute of it
