Day 6 – April 5, 2025 – Transit to Lindis Lodge

After a leisurely breakfast we were picked up at the lodge for a drive to our next destination, the Lindis Lodge. This is a small boutique hotel located on Ben Avon Station, occupying over 6000 acres within the Ahuriri Valley. Basically, it is in the middle of nowhere with nothing around but beautiful views, sheep and cows. The hotel has accommodation for just 16 guests.  The building itself is built to merge with the environment.

We arrived just after 1:00pm had lunch and then decided to take a walk along one of the many walking trails. Because there is no cell service here, we were given a walkie talkie and a GPS tracker. Beautiful sites along the way. At one point we had to climb over a fence.

We got back to the hotel after an hour’s hike, rested and then had cocktails and a delicious dinner with wine pairings.

The activities here are varied, hiking, fishing, horseback riding. We arranged for an off-road adventure for tomorrow. They take you up into the mountains, we were told that many are nervous about it, but all come back with great tales to tell. We’ll see how that goes.
