Napa small production and rising stars

Today was a real treat.  We found some great wines in some out of the way places.  First up we tasted Herb Lamb fabulous wines.  Then it was off to Kelly Fleming winery where we were treated to a tour of the winery and then a tasting featuring some of Napa’s best recent vintages.  Afterwards we had time to walk around Calistoga and stopped for “lunch”.  Our final tasting of the day was at one of Napa’s real rising stars, Perliss.  This vineyard barely survived the fires from last fall.  You can see the remnants of the fire everywhere, but they are rebuilding and producing some interesting and great tasting wines.

The Fires from last fall came to this area. While they lost one of two houses on the grounds, they only lost about a dozen vines.

  1. So envious of you. We live here, but never take advantage of Napa. Not willing to pay the price, I guess. Spoiled from being here in the 70’s/80’s when it was affordable…
