March 17, 2024 – Inaccessible Island – round two

Our last day among these islands of the Atlantic. One more opportunity to view the fantastic wildlife here. As promised, we made it back to Inaccessible Island for one last zodiac cruise along the shore. We were among the first to be called at 7:45AM so it was a very early wake up with breakfast in our suite.

There were some swells, about 4 feet, but by now we were used to it and I commented it was hardly exciting, as we got on the zodiac. As we cruised along the shore, we saw more of the Northern Rockhopper Penguins, and the fur seals along with some incredible waterfalls cascading down the cliffs from the overhead plateau. At one point I was able to catch some of the Penguins jumping and diving as they swam out for food.

After a bit more than an hour it was back to the ship. About lunchtime, the ship turned North East and headed for Africa and the next part of our adventure. There will be about 4 days at sea before we reach Walvis Bay in Namibia. We plan on one excursion there in the desert, and then on the 22nd we fly to Cape Town.
