February 28 – March 2, 2024, leaving antarctica and arriving at Puerto Williams

The 28th was our last full day in the Antarctic. We woke to rather inhospitable weather, with ice all around the ship. So there would be no off ship activities today.

A couple of views from our balcony.

This was the first real “bad” day, though we have heard stories of worse. In all the crew tells us we had the best weather overall they had seen all season.

The 29th was a day at sea with arrival at Puerto Williams planned for early on March 1st. We woke early Friday morning to catch a glimpse of Cape Horn as we approached the channel to Puerto Williams.

March 2nd was a day in port as the ship was reprovisioned and new passengers arrived. We took a turn around the quint village, really unlike any cruise town we have ever seen. About a 10 minute walk to the town, about a 10 minute walk around the town. But fascinating non the less.

Here are some pictures the professional photographer took as part of the voyage south.
