Day 24 – September 4th – A Day in Weybridge

We had a pleasant day. Both Mike and Alister headed off to their various activities leaving Fiona, Cathy and I to ourselves. We took a walk along the Wey Navigation stopping to watch a canal boat navigate through the Thames Lock. We continued along the river to a little café on an island. Fiona informed us that the house on the island had once belonged to Gilbert of Gilbert and Sullivan. We had some drinks and a snack and then continued our walk into town. Then by the church which was closed and then across the Wey Bridge and back along the river to home. There were many beautiful homes, old and new along the river.

As I had lamented the state of the food in England so far, all too glitzy and not the usual pub food I craved, Fiona was determined to give me a down-home English dinner of Bangers and Mash. It was delicious!
